“QS” stands for quantitative skills. Simply stated, QS relate to numbers and how they are used for measuring, recording and analysing data or performing calculations. We have developed a more sophisticated definition: application of mathematical and statistical thinking and reasoning in a given context (science in our case). Given the inherent interdisciplinary nature of QS in science, we very interested in the links between mathematics and science and the various tensions and complexities that exist between them in regard to content, curriculum design, practical application and real-world challenges.
